Many activities would be impossible to carry out, were it not for these volunteers. There are many good reasons why people volunteer for voluntary activities, and thus take on assignments that add to their feeling of having a purpose in life. We really value this commitment, and we also provide advice and support to people engaged in voluntary work. If you are interested in doing voluntary work yourself, please talk to a local <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zhkath.ch\/ueber-uns\/pfarreien\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">parish<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caritas-zuerich.ch\/aktiv-werden\/freiwilliges-engagement-fuer-menschen-im-kanton-zuerich\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Zurich Catholic Charities (Caritas Z\u00fcrich)<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bahnhofkirche.ch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Train Station Church (Bahnhofkirche)<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flughafenkirche.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Airport Church (Flughafenkirche)<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hiv-aidsseelsorge.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HIV and Aids Ministry<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n        <\/div>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div    class=\"accordion\">\n  <div class=\"container-xxl\">\n    <div class=\"col-lg-10 offset-lg-2\">\n      <div class=\"accordion-header\">\n        <h2 class=\"accordion-header-title\">53.2 million francs<\/h2>\n        <button class=\"accordion-header-button\" type=\"button\" aria-label=\"Toggle accordion\"><\/button>\n      <\/div>\n      <div class=\"col-md-10\">\n        <div class=\"accordion-inner\">\n          <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<p>The 74 Catholic parishes in the canton of Zurich invested 32.2 million Swiss francs in their social-diaconal commitment in 2023, while the cantonal church invested a further 21 million Swiss francs. That&#8217;s a total of 53.2 million francs. This does not include the voluntary collections that are taken up in every church service for a wide variety of projects. Our most important social organisation is Caritas Zurich. The cantonal church makes an annual contribution of 2.5 million Swiss francs to this organisation. Other important recipients of church funds are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.143.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dargebotene Hand<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/paarberatung-mediation.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ecumenical Couples Counselling<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/kabel-berufslehre.ch\/angebote\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201ckabel\u201d ecumenical apprenticeship ministry<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dfa.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">specialist centre for unemployment DfA<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zbasyl.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">advice centre for asylum seekers<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solidara.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Solidara<\/a> with the Caf\u00e9 Yucca for the needy and the advice centres for sex workers Isla Victoria in Zurich and Winterthur, <a href=\"https:\/\/profilia-zuerich.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pro Filia<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fiz-info.ch\/de\/Willkommen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">specialist centre for trafficking in women and women&#8217;s migration FIZ<\/a>, the specialist centre for refugees and numerous smaller initiatives and organisations. The cantonal church also regularly makes emergency aid contributions to the <a href=\"https:\/\/jesuiten-weltweit.ch\/christsein-in-zeiten-des-krieges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jesuit Order&#8217;s international refugee relief organisation<\/a>, to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caritas.ch\/de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Caritas Switzerland<\/a>&#8216;s emergency aid projects and to other aid organisations that submit requests to the church. Many of the social and advice centres mentioned above are run jointly with the Reformed Church. In 2023, both churches established the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.extramural.ch\/wp\/startseite\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Extramural counselling centre<\/a>, which supports the relatives of prison inmates.        <\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n        <\/div>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div    class=\"accordion color-lilac\">\n  <div class=\"container-xxl\">\n    <div class=\"col-lg-10 offset-lg-2\">\n      <div class=\"accordion-header\">\n        <h2 class=\"accordion-header-title\">51 parish welfare workers<\/h2>\n        <button class=\"accordion-header-button\" type=\"button\" aria-label=\"Toggle accordion\"><\/button>\n      <\/div>\n      <div class=\"col-md-10\">\n        <div class=\"accordion-inner\">\n          <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<p>are ready to listen to people in need and to help them cope in life. They provide counseling in the case of personal and financial difficulties and whenever there are problems in the family. They support people in dealing with issues of public administration, and they also provide services to elderly people, the bereaved, migrants, marginalized people, as well as families. The services are easily accessible, free of charge and confidential.
